The Gilded Thistle Atelier

Heirloom-grade adornments, made by hand in editions of few.

Hairpins, clasps and small treasures for costume and everyday ceremony — sketched, cast, set and sealed at one workbench, by candlelight if we're honest about it.

Each piece leaves the bench numbered, sealed and signed.

Now on the velvet

Four pieces currently under glass — each a small edition, each finished and numbered by hand before it leaves the bench.

From the workbench

One bench. Four rites. No shortcuts.

Every Gilded Thistle piece passes through the same four rites, in the same order, under the same lamp. It is slower this way. It is also why the work holds up under convention lights and decades of wear alike.

Sketch

Each design begins in graphite — drawn from hedgerow botany and old reliquary catalogues, never traced.

Cast

Carved in wax, then cast in solid brass. No plated pot metal, no hollow backs.

Set

Stones are set by hand under magnification — each prong burnished until it disappears.

Seal

Finished pieces are waxed, numbered, and stamped with the thistle seal before they leave the bench.

Private commissions

Commission an original

A crown for a champion's costume. A clasp bearing your own sigil. A familiar no one else will ever hold. The atelier accepts a handful of private commissions each season — designed with you, made once, and retired forever.

"Bring us the character; we will bring the heirloom."

Word from the floor

Kept, worn, treasured

Notes from collectors who found us at a convention table and left with something permanent.

★★★★★

"The hairpin survived three conventions, a rainstorm, and a photographer who kept asking where I 'really' bought it. Heavier and finer than anything else on the floor."
Mara V. Costumer · acquired the Thistle & Moth Hairpin

★★★★★

"I commissioned a clasp with our guild sigil. They sent sketches, then wax, then the finished piece sealed in a little wooden case. It felt like receiving an artifact."
T. Okonkwo Guildmaster · private commission

★★★★★

"Hedgewick sits on my desk between conventions. The stitching is absurdly good. My tailor asked who did it. My tailor."
June L. Collector · Moonlit Menagerie
